Update on Activities for South Padre Island

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - The City of South Padre Island recommends you keep your sandbags and home preparations in place until the storm dissipates from Texas.

At this time, the weather is good for the Island, but citizens should be cautious. If you cannot keep the sandbags, please dump sand on the pile at the convention center and it will be used for Sandcastle Days.

City activities are listed below:

  • The Environmental Health Services Department is currently larvaciding to minimize mosquito count.
  • City Beaches are open and the Shoreline Crew is placing trash cans on the beach.
  • City crews are picking up debris.

The City is assessing any damage that Harvey caused.  If you have storm damage, please email us at HarveyDamages@myspi.org.

This will allow us to add it to our disaster summary report. Prayers and thoughts to those who are still in the path of the storm.
