TxDOT Celebrates 'Don't Mess with Texas' Campaign with Commemorative Coin

PHARR, Texas - According to the Texas Department of Transportation 1 in every 4 Texans admit to littering within the past year.

A new commemorative coin is out to support the ‘Don't Mess with Texas’ campaign.

These coins come in either gold or silver. Coin purchases will contribute to the cost of cleaning up Texas Roads and Highways.

Octavio Saenz, Texas Department of Transportation said, "Here in the Rio Grande Valley, in our district, we spend $2.5 million just picking up trash. The highways belong to everybody, it takes everybody's efforts to keep them clean."

The coins are available at don'tmesswithtexascoin.org.

One of the most common forms of litter are cigarette butts.
