Reward Increased for Missing Rio Grande City Teen

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas - Rio Grande City Police continue the search for a missing teen.

As News Center 23 reported, 17-year-old Chayse Olivarez was last seen on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Olivarez left his home and was on his way to Basilio Villareal Municipal Park. He was reportedly wearing a grey shirt with matching shorts and Under Armour shoes.

The Rio Grande City Police Department is being assisted by other agencies, including the special crimes unit, Texas Rangers and the Starr County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant Police Chief Jose Solis said, "If he is being held against his will right now we don't have proof of that all we have is a missing person but we do know that the family is heart broken right now so we are doing everything we can to try to get him back to his family."

When a juvenile goes missing the family does not have to wait 48 hours to report them missing. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call authorities at 956-487-8892.

A cash reward of $15,000 is now being offered.
