Respite Center Expecting Surge Of Central Americans

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas - The Sacred Heart Respite Center in McAllen is ready for another surge of residents from Honduras and Guatemala.

Thousands of undocumented immigrants are heading for the U.S. from Central America. Across the border in Mexico, hundreds are showing up to get ready for the trip across the border.

It comes as violence in their countries intensifies. The immigrants with no other choice but to flee gangs and organized crime. The immigrants from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras have traveled for several weeks. Enduring robberies and harsh weather conditions.
