BROWNSVILLE, Texas - It was a great day for students at Faulk Middle School.
Representative Filemon Vela went out to personally congratulate students participating in the SIFMA Foundation's Capitol Hill Challenge Program, a 14 week financial education competition nation-wide.
The students are investing a hypothetical $100,000 dollars in listed stocks bonds and mutual funds as well as learning about the capital market.
The congressman spoke to them about the importance of knowing finances and government.
"All ll i can hope is that during these visits that i'll say something that will make one student you know go further in their studies and if i'm able to touch the life of just one student out there it'll make this whole job worthwhile," says Representative Vela.
The national top ten teams will be recognized at an awards reception in Washington DC this June.
