Metro McAllen Swing and Ride Bus Stop Now Operational

MCALLEN, Texas - For the first time, the city of McAllen is combining the use of transportation with recreation.

The city has celebrated the opening of the Metro McAllen Swing and Ride Bus Stop outside of the McAllen Public Library.

The new and improved bus stop features a swing set, oversized musical instruments, and painted sidewalks. This new park is a product of a $40,000 award from a non-profit organization.

Mario Delgado – McAllen Transit Director said, "It combines transit with promoting health and stuff like that. So, it's a great project. It's a small project in terms of size, but the benefits of it are going to be substantial."

The swing and ride bus stop was coined as ‘McAllen's Smallest Park’ during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
