'Harvey' Projected To Have Effects on Port Isabel on Thursday

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas - Potential Tropical Storm Harvey is projected to have impacts on Port Isabel beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing into Saturday.

Peak impact will be during overnight hours of Thursday going into Friday. The City of Port Isabel has activated its EOC, and is continuing to monitor this storm.

Based on the current forecast, the city has decided in conjunction with Cameron County to NOT issue sandbags to the general public.

City crews are contacting residents in low-lying areas with a history of flooding to provide sand bags on an as-needed basis.

Arturo Galvan Coastal Park will close beginning at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, and continue closed until 8:00 am Saturday. Pompano Boat Ramp will remain open, as will other city offices and facilities.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to take all loose items indoors. This includes lawn furniture, barbecue pits, banners, flags, etc. Please remember to tie down trailers.
