Brownsville Police Honor Fallen, Injured Officers During 'National Police Week'

BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Police officers face many dangers on a daily basis. Some local law enforcement claim they are not sure if any day could be the last day.

That is why Brownsville Police is honoring those who have died, become injured or disabled in the line of duty.

This was part of their annual ceremony during ‘National Police Week’. Many came out to show their support at the Brownsville Police Department.

J.J. Trevino, PIO Brownsville Police Department, “Never forget all the guys and gals that gave their life serving.”

Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz, “We take it for granted that police officers are going to be there all the time. It's not easy being a police officer. We're here to show our support.”

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, “It's not because of the money... they want to be out there and be a service to the public. To them I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

This past year, Brownsville Police say they have not lost an officer.
